Languages

Question:
What Grade do you take a second language? Do you have to take a second language? If you take another language (Spanish/Japanese) can you still do French? Can you drop French if you take another language?

Response:

In high school you are required to take a second language through to Grade Eleven. In Grade Eight and Nine, the only option is french (at Rockridge), but from Grade Ten onward, you can take an array of choices: French, Spanish, Mandarin, Japanese, however, you have to accomplish at least two years of your chosen language.

Yes, you can take more than one language.  I have some friends taking Spanish and French, or Spanish and Japanese.

It is always a good idea to talk to your counsellor about your high school language plan as different Universitys require different accomplishments, and to find a plan most suitable to fit your needs.
